TIPS & TOOLS:
Saving You Green
By Making You Green

[Back to Tips & Tools]

If your plant has a boiler and a refrigeration system, you owe it to yourself to call us.

Gartner Refrigeration has been in the industrial refrigeration business for over 60 years. We have seen many different types of refrigeration systems, from Watkins cycle centers to hermetic pumps, rotary vane compressors to VFD screws; we have seen the times change. However, one thing has remained constant, and will continue to be true…cold is simply the absence of heat. Our customers want things cold. All refrigeration systems are, in their simplest form, a method of removing heat. We don't actually get rid of the heat; we simply remove it from the cold room and dump it to the condenser outside. We dispose of the heat.

Boilers take in energy from natural gas or electricity, and use that energy to heat water. If you have a boiler and a refrigeration system, you are paying for heat in the boiler room, and throwing heat away in the refrigeration machinery room. More often than not, these rooms are located right next door to each other. Through the partnership of a dedicated energy professional, and a respected refrigeration contractor, we can get these systems to work together and stop wasting energy.

Thermo-Environmental Systems, LLC (TES) designs and retrofits HVAC systems for factories, hospitals and other industrial facilities. They have designed an energy system for a vegetable cannery that has won both the category and overall grand prize from the Minnesota Environmental Initiative. This facility now reuses 100% of its process heat, reduced its water use by 20% and sewer flow by 25%. Gartner Refrigeration designs, installs and services ammonia refrigeration systems. Working together, we can provide you an efficient way to heat and cool your facility.

The most common response we get is disbelief that there is that much money to be saved, and that the payback can be that fast.

Are you tired of seeing your profits go to utility companies? Would you like to say that your company is doing its best to lower their carbon footprint? The sooner you call, the sooner you can start seeing savings and being green.
