Worried about or having winter operation issues?
Here are a number of things you can try to help solve these issues.
Condenser
- Are the frequency drives for the condenser working properly?
- Exercise condenser valves
- Are tarps in good shape for covering condenser
- Check controls to ensure they are working properly for winter operation
- Check switch pumps to cycle off first and fans second
- Check drain lines for leaks
- Check supply lines for leaks
- Check for proper operation of heaters or heat tape
- Is there a way to drain the pump supply line?
- Check relief valves for leaks
Roof
- Make sure all walk ways are cleared of debris
- Make sure all roof access are clear
- Inspect pipe hangers and stands
- Evaporator coil drains cannot be plugged by snow or ice
- Evaporator coil drains heat tape is working
Compressor Room
- Perform thorough check for leaks on all piping
- Make sure exhaust system will cycle off if temp drops in room
- Check to make sure fresh air intakes open and close properly
- Check to make sure supplemental heating system works
- Change defrost times to defrost less frequently
- Change house suction pressures up, if possible
- Lower head pressures
Changes to make to help automate or check into
- Automating condenser isolation for winter service
- Install Catwalks in areas where you need access in winter
- Install valves and controls to have a designated hot gas line for defrost
