Gartner Refrigeration has developed two computerized tools to help with the problem of calculating relief vent sizes. The SRV Calculator is a fullblown analysis tool used exclusively by our refrigeration engineering staff to design complex vent systems. SRV Quick is a tool which we offer to the industrial refrigeration industry to perform analyses of simple systems.
The SRV Calculator
The SRV Calculator was developed by Gartner Refrigeration engineers to quickly perform thousands of detailed calculations to identify whether your system meets the ASHRAE 2001 standards. The SRV Calculator program does a complete analysis of your entire relief vent system, and is exclusive to Gartner Refrigeration.
ASHRAE tightened restrictions so that total back pressure could not exceed 15% of the set pressure of the valve. The previous threshold was 27.5%. Gartner Refrigeration’s SRV Calculator calculates the required relief valve capacity for new equipment and the older units that were “grand fathered” in at the 27.5% standard.
Because the SRV Calculator works so quickly, it can perform additional “what if” calculations to determine the optimal solution to get your system in compliance. The result is that you get the least costly and most efficient solution. Plus, with the SRV Calculator, you will have documented proof of compliance when the OSHA inspectors arrive.
