Our Story and Growth

Gartner Refrigeration is a family-owned business that began in 1945. Founded by Herb Gartner, the company grew from his passion for refrigeration and his background in a German immigrant family. Herb’s seven brothers all worked in the refrigeration industry, which inspired him to create a reliable and high-quality service business.

Initially, the company focused on service, air conditioning, and refrigeration. Over time, however, Gartner became known for its dedication to customer satisfaction. In 1949, Herb formed a key partnership with Frick Company, which allowed us to expand into industrial refrigeration. As a result, this partnership solidified our reputation in the industry and laid the foundation for future growth.

In 1976, John Hendrickson took over leadership, marking the beginning of the company’s second generation. Under his leadership, Gartner Refrigeration focused on delivering innovative solutions while maintaining a commitment to reliability. Our motto, “Failure is NOT an option,” reflects our dedication to excellence. Consequently, we strive to exceed expectations on every project, regardless of size.
